Although it may feel like the kids have only just gone back to school after the festive – it’s now time to think ahead for ways to keep the little ones having fun over the February break. We have rounded up a few suggestions to inspire your holiday week planning.
Tubing at Hillend
For an exhilarating slide down the hill, and fun for all the family. Open every day during the February break – Feb 13 – 17, 10am – 5pm. For ages 4+, and at least one meter tall.
Their archery range will be open over the school break, with free bushcraft taster sessions at Fort Douglas.
Be a Farm Helper at Gorgie Farm
Farmer’s Helpers sessions are offered to young people aged 8-12 throughout the school holidays. Sessions run from 10am -12.30pm. Farmer’s Helpers do real jobs across the farm including gardening, mucking out stables, feeding animals and grooming our pygmy goats!
Rainforest Explorer Days at Dynamic Earth
Explore the amazing variety of life in African tropical forests – including getting the chance to meet our very own Crocodile, Chimpanzee and Yellow-Casqued Hornbill – as part of your adventure through our galleries, and even take in a tropical thunderstorm for yourself.
Lady and the Tramp Screening at Edinburgh Zoo
Looking for something a bit different this Valentine’s Day? Edinburgh Zoo provides the perfect location for a romantic film screening. Why not spend your day taking a stroll around the wonderful gardens, visit over 1,000 rare and endangered animals, then finish your day with a film screening of a Disney classic.
Visit the Adventure Playground at Conifox, Kirkliston
This new adventure playground and Stables Bistro is fantastic. Another amazing place to take the kids for some outdoor fun, along with some lovely food at the Stables Bistro.

Get Active with Edinburgh Leisure
Holiday Club runs Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm during the main school holidays – with early drop off from 8am and late pick up until 6pm – perfect for working parents.
We’ve many great activities for children in P1 – P7 to look forward to including games, the opportunity to try different sports, arts, crafts, drama, challenges and educational activities such as learning about healthy food.

First Tingles of Spring at Almond Valley, Livingston
It might be chilly outside, but if you look carefully there are all sorts of signs that spring is on its way. After braving the spring spotter’s trail, have fun in the warmth of the museum, planting seeds, building nests, and joining in other crafts to prepare for the year to come.
Pond Dipping at Five Sisters Zoo
This February holiday we are offering young people aged 8 to 15 the chance to get out on our Nature Trail for some pond dipping, looking for some of the wonderful life found underwater in our very own wildlife pond!
Family Fun at Gyle

Come along to experience Scotland’s best Visitor Attraction (Visit Scotland) during the school holidays. Follow in the footsteps of Royalty while looking for our Cuddly Corgis in our treasure hunt. Britannia corgis will be hiding in various locations around the ship for you to spot. The whole family can join in so keep a look out and, at the end of your tour, receive a small prize.
Step It Up Dance Holiday Camps
Our holiday camps and workshops are stuffed full of fun activities and always book up fast! We run week-long camps throughout the holidays for kids in Primary 1 – 7 as well as creative themed workshops for Under 5’s. Make sure you check them out & confirm your space soon!

Step inside the magic world of movies and TV this February as your favourite films come to life right here in Edinburgh! Go Coat of Arms Crazy at the Palace of Holyroodhouse
Visit the Palace and learn about the heraldry at Holyrood before designing and making your very own coat of arms in the Family Room.
Join the Seabird Holiday Club at the Scottish Seabird Centre
